A carpeted indoor staircase with a landing and wooden banister.
An indoor staircase with a landing. Include any stairs and tight turns between your furniture’s starting position and its temporary space before the flooring work.

List the beds, sofas, tables, cabinets and other furniture leaving the work area. Choose a suitable temporary location for each piece, then check the space and route between the rooms. Include doorway widths, stairs, tight turns and any furniture that may need simple disassembly.

Empty drawers, shelves and cabinets as agreed before moving them. Pack loose belongings and remove items from the carrying route. Keep exits, essential household access and the installer’s work area clear; placing furniture in the nearest hallway may obstruct the very route everyone needs.

If the floor work happens one room at a time, describe the sequence. The temporary storage room for the first stage may become the next work area. Agree which pieces move at each visit so a room is not filled with furniture that must immediately move again.

Ask for separate move-out and return visits when needed. Share the installer’s expected dates and access requirements, then confirm each labor appointment with the team. If the flooring schedule changes, contact us before relying on a return date. A request starts the review and does not hold an open-ended appointment.

Ask your flooring installer when people and furniture can use the finished surface and what protection or furniture pads they recommend. Share those instructions before the return visit. Packahome provides the agreed labor and does not install flooring, assess curing times or approve the finished floor for use.

Choose the final furniture layout before carrying begins. Identify delicate surfaces and existing damage, and discuss suitable protection, lifting equipment and any assembly in advance. Flag pianos, safes, large appliances and other unusual pieces for specific review rather than treating them as ordinary furniture.

  • Work location, affected rooms and a list of furniture for each stage.
  • Temporary placement, dimensions and the route between rooms.
  • Installer timing, access instructions and expected return-visit needs.
  • Disassembly, reassembly, protective materials and equipment to review.

Request help in Portland metro, Beaverton, Tigard, Canby, Wilsonville, Woodburn or Vancouver, Washington. Confirm the work, crew, any minimum, materials and price before each agreed visit.

Can you move furniture out of a room before flooring work?

Request temporary furniture-moving labor within the same property. Identify each piece, its temporary location and the carrying route. The team reviews staffing, equipment, protection and any disassembly before including the work. Packahome does not install or remove flooring.

Can you come back after the floor is finished?

Ask for two visits and explain what happens at each stage. Confirm the installer’s access requirements and when the floor is ready for furniture. Each visit needs its own agreed scope and appointment; a first visit does not reserve an unspecified return date.

What if everything will not fit in the next room?

Discuss a staged room plan before the visit and choose suitable temporary spaces. Include dimensions, exits, stairs and any rooms the installer needs kept clear. If off-site storage or transport is needed, you arrange it separately and request any additional labor in the quote.
