Packing & unpacking servicesA Solely Junk company

After the move

Unpacking help.

Turn a stack of boxes into rooms you can use. Start with the everyday essentials, then work through the agreed areas at a sensible pace.

A useful unpacking plan starts with how you want to live in the space. Which rooms matter first? What needs to be within reach tonight? What can wait until the furniture is in place?

  • Agree the first rooms and categories to unpack.
  • Open the selected boxes and group everyday belongings.
  • Place agreed items in the cupboards, shelves or spaces you choose.
  • Set aside items whose location is still undecided.
  • Flatten and gather empty packing materials in an agreed area.
  • Tell us which boxes have arrived and whether the furniture is already positioned.
  • Keep keys, medication, documents and valuables under your own control.
  • Ask about furniture assembly, mounting or heavy repositioning separately.
  • Removal of empty boxes is a separate JunkPDX estimate if requested.

A practical planning example

Make the work fit the day.

For a staged unpack, start with bathroom essentials, a usable bedroom and the kitchen items needed for breakfast. Decorative items and spare-room storage can follow once the daily routine is working.

The price is reviewed around the work: rooms, volume, suitable materials, access, item care and timing. Your plan should show the agreed labor and materials before you approve work. Extra tasks need a revised scope, rather than an assumed addition.

Understand packing estimates
Will you organize the entire home?

The service covers agreed unpacking and placement tasks. Broader organizing projects or specialist systems should be described and reviewed rather than assumed.

Can I direct where everything goes?

Yes. Share your preferences and identify a place for undecided belongings so the team does not guess.

Are empty boxes hauled away?

Gathering empty materials can be included in the unpacking scope. Hauling them away requires a separate removal estimate and approval.

Labels that make unpacking easier

A good label answers three questions quickly: where does this box go, what is inside and how soon will you need it? The same system should work for everyone helping.

Make the first night easier

An open-first kit keeps the most useful everyday items separate from the rest of the move. Pack it for your household, then keep it accessible rather than buried with everything else.

Read the guide

List the rooms and tasks, choose what comes first and prepare the details for a quote. Carry your notes into an inquiry for scope and scheduling review.
