Before the crew arrives

A clear list.
A ready work space.

A useful moving-labor plan connects the belongings, carrying route and vehicle. Use this checklist to prepare your request and the work included in your confirmed appointment.

Separate packing, carrying, loading, unloading and furniture placement. Include both work addresses when help is needed at each end. Mark the priorities and anything you will handle yourself.

  • List the furniture, approximate box count and destination rooms.
  • Identify anything that may need disassembly, unusual lifting or specialist review.
  • Share deadlines, including rental returns or container pickup, without assuming the crew can fit them.

You arrange the vehicle or container, its driver and transportation. Share the size, arrival timing, loading height and ramp details. Confirm provider loading requirements and vehicle limits directly with that provider.

List dollies, blankets, straps, boxes and protective materials already available. Agree who supplies what before work. A labor request does not include a truck or driver.

Send useful photos of the items, doorways, turns and stairs. Include dimensions and weights when known; say when they are estimates. Point out delicate surfaces and existing damage.

  • Arrange parking, building entry and any elevator reservation with the property contact.
  • Confirm facility hours and authorized access for a storage-unit job.
  • Keep access codes private and share entry instructions directly with the team.
Plan apartment access
Plan work at a storage unit

Label boxes by destination and separate items staying behind. Keep medication, documents, keys and valuables under your control. Agree where belongings can be staged without blocking exits or shared access.

Have a decision-maker available for placement questions. Keep children, pets and everyday traffic away from the working route. Tell the crew about a change rather than adding tasks without review.

At arrival, review the list, route, protection and loading order. Agree which placement and load-securing tasks belong to the labor scope. Your driver handles the trip arrangements and final transport checks.

Before departure, review the agreed work and any items left for another task. For unloading, point out destination rooms and anything that should remain accessible.

Should everything be packed before loading help arrives?

Have the belongings ready for the tasks in your quote. If packing is unfinished, tell the team before the appointment so priorities, supplies and the scope can be reviewed.

Does the crew bring dollies, blankets and straps?

List the equipment and materials you have and what you need. Confirm who supplies each item and any cost in your quote; equipment is not automatically included.

Does submitting my task list reserve a crew?

No. A request starts the review. The team confirms the work, staffing, equipment, price and appointment with you. Report changes to the vehicle, access or timing before the visit.

Call with your tasks, location and timing, or send a request for review. A submitted request does not reserve an appointment.
